Ty Pennington will again park his bus in the Tar Heel state.
“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is returning to North Carolina, and is now soliciting nominations for a family to feature on an upcoming episode.
The ABC reality series follows teams of designers, contractors and volunteers as they raise a home in less than a week, usually for a family in need.
“We really want to help families whose homes present major problems for the family, those big issues that affect the family’s quality of life on a daily basis,” casting supervisor Morgan Fahey said in a press release. “We want to find deserving people who just don’t have the resources, ability, or time to fix those serious issues without our help.”
The family will get a weeklong vacation while their home is being worked on.
Nominations can be made either by family members themselves or by someone in their community.
According to the press release, candidates must own the property they live in and demonstrate why they are “deserving, heroic and/or a great role model for their community.”
Those interested in nominating someone can e-mail castingnorthcarolina@gmail.
com or print out an application at http://abc.go.com/primetime/xtremehome/index?pn=apply.
They should include the names of all the family members, why they are worthy of a new home, recent pictures of the family and if possible a video.
The deadline for nominations is Aug. 7.
The show, which enters its seventh season in the fall, featured two North Carolina families last season.
In 2008, the King family in Charlotte had their 1,900 square-foot domicile replaced with a 5,100 square-foot home complete with an art studio, dining room for eight and playhouse for their daycare center.
Earlier this year, Jeff Cooper, a veteran of the first Gulf War who lives in Jamesville, received a new 2,500 square-foot wheelchair-accessible home. He had previously been living in a double wide trailer with a “leaky roof, sagging floors and electrical wiring problems” according to a story in Greenville’s Daily Reflector newspaper. Former Secretary of State Colin Powell appeared on the episode to thank Cooper for his service.
