— The death of a man whose body was found in a home on Baux Mountain Road on Wednesday night has been ruled a homicide, the sheriff's office said today.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office identified the man as 48-year-old Dwight Alan Sluder of 9944 Baux Mountain Road in Germanton.

He had been shot in the head based on preliminary autopsy results and evidence collected, according to a sheriff's office press release.

Maj. Brad Stanley said deputies went to the home in the 9900 block of Baux Mountain Road near the Stokes County line after being notified by EMS workers.

Federal authorities are involved in the case because investigators have developed some out-of-state leads, said Schatzman, who declined to elaborate.

A mobile command unit was set up near the home last night. Two deputies guarded the home Thursday morning.
