STATESVILLE (AP) — An undercover deputy working for a sheriff is so good at his job, he was arrested while trying to sell drugs to undercover officers working for the city police.
The Statesville Record & Landmark reported today that an undercover Iredell County sheriff's deputy approached undercover officers with the Statesville Police Department and offered to sell them marijuana. Neither party recognized the other.
The undercover buyers contacted the sheriff's office but were told the seller was not one of their undercover deputies.
The Statesville police officers then arrested the deputy. He was released after other deputies arrived and confirmed his identity.
