The Greater Piedmont Teen Challenge will hold its first Rock the Block street rally from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Greensboro.
Rock the Block is a free Christian outreach event featuring local and regional urban Christian artists, comedians and outreach groups from the community.
The children’s program includes games, songs, puppets, clowns, give-aways and a special child-oriented message.
“It is an urban event in order to preach the gospel in innovative ways so that we can reach more people,” said the Rev. Nick Rabah, program director.
The group will give out 200 pairs of shoes to area children during the Saturday event. The footwear will be provided by “Samaritan’s Feet.”
“The first 200 registered people at the event will receive shoes,” Rabah said.
Samaritan’s Feet is a nonprofit organization dedicated to changing lives though Shoes of Hope distributions around the world, helping 300 million people protect their feet from injury and disease.
The event will be at the Teen Challenge campus, near the Overland Heights Community, at West Avenue and Peale Terrace.
