What we need to do is find out which School Board members are up for re-election...the arrogance and ignorance on that board rivals even the City Council. What will help the City Council is the removal, at the ballot box, of Mary Rakestraw. She, like her symbiotic twin on the school board, Kris Cooke, lives for ribbon cuttings, cake cuttings, and social events. Her intellect, like Cooke's, is shallow at best. LANDAU FOR CITY COUNCIL and ANYONE other than Kris Cooke for School Board!

The Board of Education is made up of 11 members who are elected by citizens in non-partisan elections every four years. The terms are staggered to ensure continuity of service. The next round of elections for BOE members is 2010, when Hebert, Duncan, Belton, Hayes, and Routh would be up for re-election. Terms of the other 6, including Cooke, expire in 2012.
