GRAHAM — Two men, including the stepson of the victim, were charged in the 2007 slaying of an Alamance County woman.
The Alamance County Sheriff's Office said 36-year-old Thomas Clay Friday and 45-year-old Robert Dennis Dixon were both charged Tuesday with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the fatal shooting of Sarah Jones Dixon.
Robert Dixon, the victim's stepson, also was charged with solicitation to commit murder. Both he and Friday are being held without bond in the Alamance County jail.
Sarah Dixon was found shot Nov. 30, 2007, in her home at 2033 McCray Road in northern Alamance County. The sheriff's office said she had been shot numerous times.
The Times-News of Burlington reported that neighbors found the 68-year-old Jones in her bed. She was a retired assistant vice president with Bank of America and had worked there for 42 years.
The sheriff's office gave no motive for the slaying.
The sheriff's office said deputies and state and federal officials arrested Friday near Randleman Road in Guilford County. Robert Dixon was arrested as his home at 2049 McCray Road in Alamance County.
After the arrests, deputies searched Friday's home at 610 Slade St. in Gibsonville, Robert Dixon's home on McCray Road and 664 Foxlair Trail in Person County. The sheriff's office did not say how the Person County search was connected to the case.
