Don’t apologize for me; I can speak for myself

I agree with the July 5 letter concerning the apology the City Council recently made to the Truth and Reconciliation committee.

First of all, I do not need any group, council or person to apologize on my behalf! I am an adult and I take responsibility for my actions. If I do something harmful or hurtful, I will be the first to apologize. The City Council certainly does not have to do it for me.

I am really not sure why this “committee” still exists, except to continue to live in the past and negatively influence the future.

Come on, Greensboro citizens, let’s not live under this cloud of ugliness that the majority of us had absolutely no part of and are tired of having regurgitated back in our faces.

Come on, Truth and Reconciliation committee, go find the “truth” in some other issues that truly impact all of the citizens of Greensboro.

amen, people 35 or 40 years old well know what you are talking about the ones younger do not know about it. We need the look at the thing that are worng now not 1979 30 years age.

Only problem with this letter is that all its facts are wrong -- the City Council has issued no apology for 11/3/1979.

It is amazing that the loudest people are the most ill-informed when it comes to everything related to 11/3/1979.

tledford is trying to play word games, just like the city council.

OK, we can play that game too. Let me be the first to say I do not need the city council (or anyone else) to issue a statement of regret for me. I do not regret anything concerning the communist / klan battle. Because I wasn't involved with it and I had no part in it. I have NOTHING to regret concerning that day. So the city council can take their statement of regret and shove it where the sun don't shine.
