THOMASVILLE — An Archdale man was seriously hurt when a cannon he was packing with gunpowder went off unexpectedly.
The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said Kevin Scott Hankins was standing in front of the cannon shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday when it fired without warning.
Deputies said Hankins suffered serious wounds to his hands and arms and was cut and burned on his head, neck and torso. He was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was listed in fair condition Monday morning.
The incident took place at 64 Proctor Road in Thomasville. No charges were filed.
