State tournament will bring visitors, baseball to Eden

EDEN — Eden will host the Dixie Youth Baseball AA State Tournament at Freedom Park Friday through July 14.

There will be a cookout for players, coaches and their families beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday. The opening ceremony will begin at 7 p.m.

The tournament will get under way at 11 a.m. Saturday, with games played on three fields until about 8:30 p.m.

There will be a church service at the Eden Kiwanis Amphitheater at Freedom Park from 10:15 a.m. until 11 a.m. Sunday, July 12. The games will get under way at 1 p.m., with last game of the day scheduled for about 7 p.m.

On Monday, July 13, and Tuesday, July 14, games will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the last game of the day scheduled for  8 p.m.

Sixteen teams from across the state are expected to participate in this tournament. More than 240 players and coaches, along with many family members, will be staying in Eden during the event.

Café ministry extending hours for evening crowds

EDEN — One Way Café, a ministry of Osborne Baptist Church, is extending its hours of 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to welcome evening crowds from
5 p.m. until 8 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

The café offers food and beverages along with Internet access.

“For us, the café is a way to minister to the community and provide a Christ-centered place where anyone feels welcome,” said food services director Sandra Chaney.

One Way Café is at Osborne Baptist Church, 326 E. Stadium Drive in Eden.
