Man who bought Powerball ticket in High Point wins $200,000

It's a Father's Day that's going to be hard to top for one lucky North Carolinian.

That was the day Joseph Carroll decided to go online to see the results of the June 20 Powerball drawing.

Turns out he won $200,000.

He was in a state of shock after his son-in-law confirmed all five numbers matched, his wife told the North Carolina Education Lottery.

The numbers were 3, 11, 18, 22 and 28. The Powerball number was 33.

It's worth $136,005.40 after taxes.

The Arden resident bought the ticket at The Pop Shoppe at 2406 Hickswood Road in High Point.

He plans to use his winnings to pay off some of his children's college loans and take a cruise with his wife to the Bahamas from Charleston, S.C.

Good Fortune has found your doorway, May no worries stay too long and may no one bother you for hand-outs.
Congradulations from the bottom of my heart.

The one who should worry about hand-outs is the guy who won the big jack pot. It boggles my mind why the big winners identify themselves, their faces, and names ( see Jack Whitaker a few years ago), and put themselves and their families at risk. This isn't some huge amount, but if I were to win the big jackpot one day, I'd set up a trust, and an attorney from the trust to claim the prize. I'd rather not have my face all over the TV and papers putting myself at risk for harm, or people coming out of the wood work to try and con money out of me.

Congratulations....but one must wonder....why would anyone purchase a Powerball ticket and "not" take the Powerplay option for $1.00 extra. Look at it this way, it just cost you $800,000.00.
