The Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation will begin providing bus service to the N.C. Zoo on Monday.

Riders can catch a Route 10 Randolph Co. Express bus from the Greensboro Depot at 8:55 a.m. to South Asheboro P&R (McDowell Road) at 9:30 a.m. and arrive at the zoo at 9:45 a.m.

A reverse-route bus departs from the zoo at 4 p.m. The fare is $2.

Sounds like something we really need!

Taxpayer funded transportation to a zoo 40 miles from here, I'll bet that $2 fee should really help PART break even too.

Why not stop using our local landfill and bus our trash too!

Oops, never mind :(

Actually it does sound like something we need. What a great way to teach your kids how to use public transportation instead of having mom drive around town with 1 or 2 kids in an Explorer/Excursion/Etc. What a great way to be able to spend time together in nice buses (These aren't the ones that are used for stop to stop in town) while visiting somewhere educational that also offers some physical exercise for all of our obese children.

We should be spending more money on public transport and encouraging its use in our general area. It would go a long way to making us all spend less and use more efficient forms of transport. Less congestion on the highways, etc. It's a win/win situation if people won't be narrow minded.

"[...] if people won't be narrow minded."

This *IS* Greensboro, you know, narrow-mindedness runs rampant. Pretty town, though.

I am thrilled by the improvements being made in access (and the destinations) to public transportation the Triad. Not only will this new bus line take cars off of the roads but it should increase revenue at the zoo. I hope that the bus to the zoo is highly advertised so that people beyond N&R readers are aware that it exists.

This a great opportunity for independence, especially for the young responsible youth. The NC Zoo is a digital camera delight. The experience worth the connection. For only $2.30 one passenger can ride to the Depot and return to a near home bus stop or gathering drop. For a $2.00 one way $2 back Part is a lifetime in a day of knowledge. Just pack a sandwich and go and learn. I grew up independent (9) riding Duke Power city buses. I was well behaved and trustworthy, a good thing for me. (Of course back then it was 5-10-15 cents one way). Natural Science is a lot better than video games parents. Boy and Girl leaders ride Part and share their future.
