GREENSBORO – President Barack Obama’s America Listening Tour is coming to North Carolina in July and August, but the president is not.

The listening tour is designed to “re-engage and mobilize the grassroots movement in support of President Barack Obama,” according to a news release.

The tour will focus on discussing issues of health care, education and clean energy initiatives that are on the president’s agenda.

In Greensboro, the event will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on July 23 and will be hosted by Gregory Jackson. A location has not been finalized.

Similar tour stops also will be held in Winston-Salem on July 30 and in High Point on Aug. 11.

To RSVP or for more information, visit the president’s Web site at  http://www.barackobama.com.

Obama may listen to screened questions, but he's only preparing the country what is going to be ramroded through Pelosi and Reid.

I hope this tour will be listening with their ears open to all the people shouting to leave our health care to us and quit spending our money so irresponsibly...good thing O won't be here he might not like that he is not an American idol like he thinks he is.. I would not even open my front door to see him if he did come.

bigj, of course you realize that the majority of people in this country feel there is a need to reform the current health care system. And that government is spending money responsibly. So why, specifically, do you feel otherwise? Just curious. And you say you wouldn't open your front door to see the President of the United States? C'mon bigj, you aren't serious. Surely you aren't afraid of him, are you? Or, why do you dislike him so much? Just curious!

If the comments of the above persons were believed, one would believe that the current President and Congress were the first to "ramrod" something down the throats of the people! As I seem to recall, the previous administration did a very fine job of gutting the US Constitution with a great deal of ramrodding of many in congress. I heard no cries of "foul" then!

As for healthcare being left to the individual, how many individuals have healthcare coverage provided through an employer? Or can afford it either with an employer or as a freestanding individual? Healthcare in the US is in EXTREMELY DESPERATE need of reform. Until the insurance companies are shown that they do not hold the collective public by their private parts, ALL people will be in dire straits!

I am very pleased to know that President Obama's America Listening Tour is coming to Greensboro this month. And feel certain that the tour will be well-received by intelligent local citizens.
