GREENSBORO – A Greensboro man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after escaping from a holding area at the Guilford County jail in Greensboro.
About 3:30 p.m., Greensboro police said James Graham, 42 was waiting to see a magistrate on charges of misdemeanor larceny and felony auto theft.
While in a holding area outside the magistrate’s office, Graham was able to get out of the secured area and escape from the jail, said Lt. Hope Newkirk with Greensboro police.
He was arrested a short time later by patrol officers a few blocks from the jail.
Specific information about how the escape occurred was not available Wednesday afternoon. Newkirk said an investigation will be conducted.
Graham likely will face additional charges because of the escape, she said.
