GREENSBORO – Two people from High Point were arrested Tuesday on charges they embezzled more than $4,000 in vehicle-related fees from N.C. Department of Motor Vehicles.
An investigator with the DMV’s License and Theft bureau arrested Tammy Brummett Fryer, 49, and Roger Gene Coffer, 58, both of 6219 Mendenhall Road, on charges of embezzlement of state property, according to arrest warrants.
Warrants state from February 2007 through February 2009, the duo allegedly embezzled more than $4,000 in currency, consisting of fees for taxes and titles from the sale of 20 used vehicles.
Warrants state Fryer worked as an automobile dealer licensed by the state during the time period, but don’t say where she worked.
Both were released from the Guilford County jail in Greensboro.
No phone listing was available to reach either suspect for comment.
