Mary Evelyn Thornton, a partner with the law firm, Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP, in Washington, D.C., is to be married to Hunter Andrew Payne, a senior vice-president with U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management, in Los Angeles, CA.
The bride is the daughter of Dr.W I Thornton, Jr.and the late Clera Ann Cox Thornton of Dyersburg, TN. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and her Juris Doctor from the Universith Of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill.
The bridegroom is the son of Nancy Payne Stanfield and the late Herbert Knox Payne,Jr. of Winston Salem. His stepfather is Joseph W. Stanfield, Jr. He received both his Bachelor of Arts and his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The wedding will be July 11, 2009 in Memphis ,TN
