Man found dead in backyard of Stoneville home
STONEVILLE – Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the backyard of a Stoneville home this afternoon.
Authorities were called to the home at 340 Young Road in Stoneville at 2:02 p.m. for a report of someone seriously injured at the home, said Dean Venable, spokesman for the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office.
A deputy arrived to find a deceased man in the backyard, possibly from a gunshot wound, Venable said.
Authorities are not releasing the victim's name or age, but Venable said the man did not live at the home.
Detectives also are interviewing residents, including two men who made the initial 911 call, Venable said.
