FIRST TEAM

Wil Myers, C/P, Sr., Wesleyan: The four-time All-State selection and Rawlings first team All-American hit .532 and slugged 1.323 with 14 home runs and 41 RBIs in 22 games. As the Trojans' closer, he posted a 0.74 ERA in 19 innings. Drafted by the Kansas City Royals.

Ethan Ogburn, P/OF, Sr., Southwest Guilford: The Piedmont Triad 3-A pitcher of the year had a 1.95 ERA, five wins, three saves and struck out 122 in 79 innings. He'll play for N.C. State.

Alex Swim, C, Sr., Northwest Guilford: The Elon-bound catcher controlled games from both sides of the plate, hitting .450 with 23 RBIs this season and striking out just four times his whole high school career. Only seven runners attempted to steal on him this season; he gunned down four. Head coach Sonny Gann: "He has a rocket for an arm and has hit in the clutch his entire high school career."

Ray Crawford, 3B, Jr., Dudley: Hit .625 with 25 extra-base hits, including 10 homers, en route to his third All-Triad 3-A selection. Head coach Larry Farrer: "Ray Crawford is one of the hardest-working kids I've ever had the pleasure of coaching or being around. He wants the pressure to be on him during crucial situations."

Nick McBride, P/IF, Sr., Ragsdale: Command issues plagued McBride as a junior -- he walked 53 batters in 55 innings -- but he pounded the strike zone this year to the tune of a 9-0 record, 0.90 ERA and .108 opponents' batting average. The 6-foot-4 righty struck out 77 and walked 14 in 46 2/3 innings and was voted Mid-Piedmont 3-A player of the year. He was drafted in the fifth round by the Texas Rangers.

Craig Erskine, SS, Sr., McMichael: The North State 2-A player of the year hit .405 with nine homers yet still found time to rack up 35 walks. He slugged .935, drove in 33 runs to give him a county-record 88 for his career, stole 10 bases and went 5-0 on the mound. He'll play for Western Carolina.

Joseph Hughes, P, Sr., McMichael: The ace of the Phoenix staff and runner-up North State 2-A player of the year went 10-1 with a 1.32 ERA and struck out 95 hitters in 58 innings. He got the win in game one of the state championship series and saved game two. He's signed on to play at East Carolina.

Macon Smith, C, Jr., Western Guilford: The Triad 3-A offensive player of the year hit .467 with eight homers and 34 RBIs, numbers that would have been even more gargantuan if Smith hadn't been intentionally walked 18 times. "Once teams have seen him one time," head coach Chris Causey said, "they don't throw to him a whole lot more."

Stephen Mekita, P/OF, Jr., Northwest Guilford: The Vikings' ace was the Metro 4-A player of the year after going 9-2 with a 2.80 ERA and shutting out three playoff teams. Also hit .437 with four homers and 27 RBIs and went 9-of-9 on stolen base attempts.

SECOND TEAM

Will Kellam, 1B, Sr., Southwest Guilford: He cranked out 38 hits this season to move into second place on the school's all-time list. Finished with a .463 average and 23 RBIs.

Kevin Sanders, C, Sr., High Point Christian: The TAC player of the year and a three-time NCISAA All-State choice, he hit .612 with 44 runs and 57 RBIs for the state champion Cougars. Of his 63 hits, 35 went for extra bases, including 11 homers. "Tough as nails," head coach Corey Gesell said.

Justin Bolens, C/P, Sr., East Forsyth: Thou shalt not steal against Bolens, who threw out 65 percent of would-be basestealers this year and helped bring along a young pitching staff. He also hit .397 with 32 RBIs and was East's closer on the mound.

Logan Self, P/1B/OF, Sr., Wesleyan: He went 6-2 with a 1.67 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 46 innings, as well as slugging .756 with 22 RBIs hitting in the leadoff hole. Signed with Campbell.

Josh Tobias, SS/P, Soph., Southeast Guilford: A two-time all-conference selection, he posted a fielding percentage above .990 on top of hitting .340. "He is a winner and a true leader on the field," head coach Lynn Coble said.

Kyle Brandenburg, 3B/P, Sr., Ragsdale: He tied the school record with 39 hits and scored 40 times to go along with a .481 average and 11 stolen bases. He also moved from shortstop to third and made only one error all season, as well as posting a 1.69 ERA. Will play at Campbell. Head coach Donnie Maness: "He was consistent all year long. He was a very, very reliable at-bat for us."

Ben Fultz, 2B, Jr., Ragsdale: The Liberty commitment hit .426 with three homers, 27 RBIs and 28 runs scored to help the Tigers to a 22-2 regular-season record.

Parks Jordan, SS, Jr., Glenn: He was the Piedmont Triad 3-A player of the year after hitting .375 with seven doubles, 23 RBIs, 28 runs scored and 16 stolen bases, "all while playing the most demanding position of shortstop and often not being pitched to, as 18 walks show," head coach John Fowler said. He'll also play in the State Games.

Bryan Mitchell, P, Sr., Rockingham County: The UNC-bound righthander has been the Cougars' ace for three seasons and capped his career with a 5-2 record, 0.62 ERA and five shutouts as a senior to help Rockingham win the Triad 3-A tournament. Mitchell, who hit the low 90s, struck out 87 and walked 18 in 45 1/3 innings.
