FIRST TEAM
Jazie Daniels, Sr., Page: She was the Metro 4-A triple jump champion for a second straight year, won regionals and then avenged three scratches at last year's state meet by capturing the 4-A state title. She was also on the conference champion 400-meter relay team and was voted Metro 4-A co-field event athlete of the year for a second time. Head coach David Rogers: "Jazie is one of those kids who will quietly do any and everything to make sure that she and her team succeeds. She is a hard worker, never complains and is extremely humble. She just warms up, jumps and puts her medals in her bag."
Alexis Hall, Soph., Page: She's the 4-A bronze medalist in the long and triple jumps, the latter of which she just took up this year. "She might be one of Page's best athletes by the time she graduates," head coach David Rogers said.
James Jenkins, Jr., Page: The Metro 4-A runner of the year topped the conference in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, the latter of which he took third place at regionals and 11th in the state. Head coach David Rogers: "James is just a hard worker who does what he is supposed to do and doesn't complain or make excuses."
Connor Brooks, Sr., Northwest Guilford: The Vikings' captain set a school record in the 400 meters at 48.05 seconds. He finished second at the 4-A state meet. Will run for UNC-Wilmington.
Chelsea Hollingsworth, Jr., Northwest Guilford: Star distance runner set school records in the 1,600 (5:12.3) and 3,200 meters (11:27.2).
Aaron Zakula, Sr., East Forsyth: He was the Metro 4-A and state champion in the pole vault, for which he set school records in indoor (15-2) and outdoor (15-6 1/2) competition. Will compete for East Carolina. Head coach Mike Riley: "He has some natural gifts in athleticism, but the time he has put in trying to become a more complete vaulter is what has separated him."
John Teeter, Sr., East Forsyth: He was Metro 4-A champion in the 800 meters and as part of the Eagles' 3,200-meter relay team. He finished fifth at the 4-A state championships in the 800 meters in a time of 1:56.52. Will compete for UNC-Wilmington. Riley: "He has been a leader on our team this season in helping some others to compete harder and believe in what they are capable of."
Patrick Crawford, Jr., East Forsyth: He topped the Metro 4-A in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meters, was the regional runner-up in the 1,600 and took third in the 3,200. He finished 11th in the state in the 1,600 meters. Riley: "He has an intense drive to improve and wants to be the best that he can."
Sheanika Scales, Jr., Morehead: She earned All-Conference honors and was the 3-A state champion in the high jump (5-6).
Hunter Waldron, Sr., Morehead: The Panthers' top scorer ran the 100 meters in 11.30 and 200 meters in 23.46. Has a track scholarship to Livingstone College.
Taylor Dunn, Soph., Caldwell: Captured the NCISAA 2-A titles in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters and anchored the Eagles' first-place 3,200-meter relay team.
Cissy Nitz, Sr., Bishop McGuinness: Took fifth in the state in the 800 meters and was part of the Villains' state record-breaking 1,600 meter relay team.
Catrina Green, Jr., Western Guilford: All-State in the discus (2nd place, 116-0) and a state qualifier in the shot put (33-9).
Coydarel Crook, Sr., Southern Guilford: North State 2-A champion in the high jump (6-4) and 110 hurdles also excelled on relays and has helped the Storm to three conference championships. Will attend UNC-Pembroke.
Matt Colvin, Fr., Southern Guilford: Set the school's freshman record with a personal best of 43-5 in the triple jump. That was good enough to qualify for the state championship, where he finished seventh.
David Gbamele, Sr., Southern Guilford: He had never competed before this season but found a knack for the field events, taking All-North State 2-A honors in both the shot put (48-3) and discus (131-0). He was voted conference field athlete of the year. Head coach Larry Ratliff: "David would be the last one out there. I'd tell him to take 10 throws, he'd take 30. I had to tell him to stop."
SECOND TEAM
Kyre Keen, Sr., Morehead: N.C. A&T-bound sprinter ran the 100 (11.21) and 200 (23.80) and anchored the Panthers' 400- and 800-meter relay teams.
Cameron Wade, Sr., Morehead: High jumper (6-6) and long jumper (21-0) will attend UNC-Charlotte.
Kaitlyn Shaw, Soph., Caldwell: NCISAA 2-A champion in the 100 hurdles. All-TAC.
Benjamin Bell, Soph., Caldwell: All-TAC honoree led the conference in scoring (high jump, long jump, 200 and 400 meters.)
Sarah Justice, Brielle Burnett, Grace Popek and Keisha Smith, Soph., Ragsdale: Conference champs and state qualifiers in both the 400- and 800-meter relays. Popek also topped the conference in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters.
Nieda Young, Sr., Southern Guilford: All-North State 2-A in the 100 and 200 meters.
Dabrenia Harris, Sr., Southern Guilford: All-North State 2-A in the triple jump and 100- and 300-meter hurdles.
Nichelle Caudle, Jr., Southern Guilford: Part of the Storm's All-Conference 1,600-meter relay team.
Patrick Preudhomme, Sr., Bishop McGuinness: Finished fifth in the state in the 400 meters and second in the 1,600 meter relay.
Ganna Bowen, Sr., Western Guilford: Qualified for states in three events and took fifth in the 3,200 meters (12:06).
Mercie Fantroy, Sr., Western Guilford: All-conference in four events and qualified for states in three.
Morgan Warrington, Jr., Western Guilford: Took third in the conference in the pole vault, discus and 1,600-meter relay and qualified for states in all three.
Will Bennett, Fr., Page: He started the year at 5-6 in the high jump, won the Metro 4-A by jumping 6-0, then took second place in the Midwest regional at 6-2. "We expect big things from him," head coach David Rogers said.
Maggie Harahan, Fr., Page: Took second in the conference in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters. Qualified for regionals in both, as well as the 800 meters. "She is a competitor to the end," head coach David Rogers said.
Warren Scott, Jr., Southern Guilford: All-North State in the 100 meters (11.2) and a regional qualifier in the 200 meters (23.2) Also ran on regional qualifier 400-, 800- and 1,600-meter relay teams.
Mason King, Sr., Southern Guilford: Holds the school record in the pole vault at 13-2 1/2 despite only competing for two years. He was an All-Regional selection and competed at the state meet.
