Five area residents have been elected to serve on the Rockingham Community College Foundation board of directors.
Jennifer Boyte, Beth Waddell and Seth Woodall, all of Eden, and Chris Phillips and Fred Timper, both of Reidsville, will begin their terms July 1.
Boyte is the assistant vice president at First Citizens Bank in Eden. She has served on the Morehead Memorial Hospital Foundation board, and is a member of the Eden Rotary Club and Eden Women’s Club.
Phillips is Reidsville’s finance director. He has been vice-chairman of a subcommittee for the N.C. Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Timper, a retail banking manager, has held positions on boards that include the Annie Penn Foundation, Reidsville Rotary Club and the Rockingham County Partnership for Children.
Waddell is a financial specialist with Wachovia Bank. She has served on the board of ReDirections of Rockingham County.
Woodall is a partner in the Eden law firm Walker, Melvin and Woodall. He has been board vice-president of ReDirections of Rockingham County.

Kevin Lee Ferris of Reidsville graduated from Wake Forest University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Velvet Elizabeth Bryant of Stokesdale graduated from Wake Forest University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

Kelvin L. Blackwell of Reidsville received his bachelor’s degree from Davidson College, where he was a religion major and economics minor.
During his time at Davidson, Blackwell was a charter member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, a member of the college’s Investment and Finance Association and a four-year letter varsity football player. He plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill to study for a master’s in business administration.
Blackwell is the son of Kelvin and Latricia Blackwell.

Appalachian State University has announced the names of students named to its Chancellor’s and Dean’s lists. Chancellor’s List students have earned at least a 3.85 grade point average. Dean’s List students have earned a minimum 3.45 grade point average in 12 to 14 academic hours, or at least a 3.25 in 15 or more hours.
