GREENSBORO — The city hasn’t always done a good job of turning its young professionals into civic leaders or simply extending a warm welcome.
But a nonprofit wants to reach out to those young workers just as they get to town by offering them a new Web site and a CD “e-brochure” through a variety of human resources departments at local corporations.
By grabbing these folks when they start work in a new city, synerG hopes to draw them into the social and civic life the city offers its younger workers, the group said Tuesday.
SynerG will hand out the CDs to human resource managers in the region to provide a more colorful introduction than any simple brochure can do, said April Harris, the executive director of Action Greensboro, synerG’s parent.
The organization’s sole purpose is to involve young people through such things as meetings with senior community leaders, social events and sports activities.
The new CD offers bright graphics and video testimonials from local young professionals about every facet of life in Greensboro.
The group has also brightened and reorganized its own Web site, synerg.org, to echo the CD.
“As one of the primary points of contact for many young people moving to Greensboro for the first time, we felt it was important to equip area human resource managers with a simple tool they can use to recruit and orient new employees,” Harris said in a statement.
