Blanchard - Martin

The marriage of Miss Berkeley Frances Blanchard of Richmond, Virginia, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence Eley Blanchard III of Richmond, to Mr. Adam Alexander Martin of Memphis, Tennessee, son of Drs. Daniel Clyde and Glenn Ann Martin of Memphis, took place Saturday, June 6, 2009 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The bride's aunt, the Reverend Louise Browner Blanchard officiated.

The bride, escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Vernon Wimberley of Greensboro, North Carolina and Mrs. Lawrence Eley Blanchard, Jr. of Richmond and the late Mr. Blanchard. The groom is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. James Franklin Blakemore II of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Mrs. Dan Allen Martin and the late Dr. Martin of Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Miss Kelly Gayle Kennedy of Winston-Salem, North Carolina served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Whitney Smith Blanchard, sister-in-law of the bride, Mrs. Olivia Cronly Wages, and Miss Laura Austin Johnson, all of Richmond, Miss Candace Bowen Domayer of Baltimore, Maryland, Miss Abigail Jolley Johnson of New York City and Miss Lisa Eve Herrmann of Annandale, Virginia.

Mr. Joshua James Daniel Martin of Fairfax, Virginia, brother of the groom, served as the best man. Groomsmen were David Lawrence Blanchard, brother of the bride, of Richmond, Allie James Prescott, IV of Memphis, Joshua Boleslaw Piekarski of South Boston, Massachusetts, Bryan Arthur Wyker of Charlotte, North Carolina, Salehin Rais of Cleveland, Ohio, and Clarke David Kensinger of Charlottesville, Virginia. Mr. Charles Fuller Blanchard served as Crucifer.

The flower girl was Miss Kelsey Ann Martin, niece of the groom, and the reader was Mrs. Catherine McKee Martin, sister-in-law of the groom, both of Fairfax, Virginia. Ushers were Mr. Jason Matthew Woods of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and Mr. Andrew Neil Pfeffer of East Brunswick, New Jersey. The greeters were Mrs. Austen Johnson Carr of Missoula, Montana and Miss Anne Marshall Johnson of Walla Walla, Washington, cousins of the bride.
The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom's parents, was held at the Pauley Center of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The wedding reception, hosted by the bride's parents, was held at The Country Club of Virginia.
The bride is a graduate of St. Catherine's School, and received her bachelor's degree with distinction from the University of Virginia. The groom is a graduate of White Station High School, and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Richmond. They are both current fourth year students at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.

Following a honeymoon on Kauai, Hawaii, the couple will reside in Charlottesville.
