High Point city officials will dedicate the newly-constructed Oak Hollow Marina at 11 a.m. Saturday at 3431 N. Centennial St.
The day will also include a youth fishing derby.
The new, 4,100-square-foot facility was built on the former marina’s footprint, said Allen Oliver , parks and recreation director. “The old building had a classroom downstairs and was not handicap accessible.” The new facility’s classroom is now accessible.
Total cost of the project was $424,000 and was part of the 2004 bond projects.
Oak Hollow Marina is a 1,500-acre park with an 800-acre lake — Oak Hollow Lake — which became the city’s primary water supply in 1991.
Residents can enjoy year-round boating and fishing at the marina. The facility also offers sailing classes, sailboat rental, boat storage spaces, bank fishing and picnic shelter rentals with electricity, restrooms and grills.
The marina sells bait, fishing supplies and snacks and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily .
The building has space available for parties and meetings. For reservations, call the marina at 883-3494.
