RALEIGH (AP) — The national observance of fishing and boating will include 40 free fishing events for children across North Carolina. (Details here.)

The state Wildlife Commission said the 2009 National Fishing and Boating Week starts Friday and the events will include opportunities for children to learn basics such as casting, tying knots and selecting tackle.

Fish will be stocked across the state so the lessons will have a real-life aspect.

People who register for any of the listed events will be entered in a statewide drawing for fishing prizes. The grand prize is a freshwater and saltwater lifetime fishing license.

"The national observance of fishing and boating will include 40 free fishing events for children across North Carolina."
But what if I don't want to fish for children? Besides, what kind of bait would I use? And what's a keeper? And the limit?
This is so confusing.

Where will these events be held? Where do you go to register your child?
