A Greensboro dentist who usually makes his patients smile has had the favor returned. Dr. Reid Clark won this year’s “I Love My Dentist” contest after Clemmons resident Cindy Ludwig wrote a letter to the Successful Smiles Blog about why she loves her dentist.
“He really changed my life,” Ludwig said in her letter.
Ludwig said a childhood experience caused her to be terrified of going to see a dentist.
“Over the years, I’ve had to force myself to go to other dentists,” she said in the letter. “From the minute I walked into Dr. Clark’s, however, everything felt different.”
Stories like Ludwig’s make Clark love his profession.
“It makes you feel great,” Clark said. “Anytime somebody says, 'You made my day,’ it makes your day.”
A Greensboro native, Clark has been practicing for 32 years.
“It’s the ability to be able to work with people and to make a difference with those people,” he said.
Clark said the energy from his staff keeps things going in his practice.
“The one thing I try to instill in my team is enthusiasm,” he said.
That energy and enthusiasm is needed even more now that Clark’s business partner Guy Ribando is serving as a major with the U.S. Army Reserve in Iraq as a general dentist.
“We have some other dentists who’ve retired, but they’ve come in to help us out,” Clark said.
The practice’s vision is “to make a difference one smile at a time,” and Clark credits his team with fulfilling that vision — and winning him the contest.
“They’re incredible,” he said. “I’m so grateful for their energy.”
