High Point Museum and Historical Park will host a Community Heritage Day 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The museum also opened its new furniture exhibit Tuesday. The interactive exhibit features oral histories, furniture and a driving tour educating the public about the furniture industry’s past and its effect on the city and region.
Community Heritage Day will include historical demonstrations — blacksmithing, weaving, spinning and woodworking. The museum offers the demonstrations throughout the year, but not at the same time.
There will also be militia encampments, a field hospital, archaeological research, a Quaker wedding re-enactment, historical games and quill pen writing.
Inside the museum, visitors can participate in crafts, sit in on history seminars and listen to the Health Force, an African drumming group, and the High Point Celebration Band.
Seminars are every half hour from noon to 3 p.m. Music is at noon and 1:30 p.m.
