Score: Grasshoppers 2, Shorebirds 1
Site: Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, Salisbury, Md.
Why the Grasshoppers won: Greensboro took advantage of errors to score both of its runs. Daniel Pertusati came home on an errant pickoff throw by Delmarva catcher Luis Bernardo in the second inning, and Kevin Mattison reached on an error by second baseman Jerome Hoes and later scored in the sixth.
Performances worth noting: Hoppers starting pitcher Johnny Dorn (4-1) held Delmarva to five hits and one run in seven innings to lower his ERA to 2.36. First baseman Ben Lasater banged out his 15th and 16th doubles of the season, and center fielder Kevin Mattison stole two bases.
Also worth noting: Before the game, Hoppers infielder Emilio Ontiveros was promoted to Jupiter of the Florida State League, and infielder Jake Smolinski joined Greensboro from extended spring training. Hoppers outfielder Isaac Galloway was placed on the disabled list (retroactive to May 8) with a sprained left wrist.
