Christine J. Greene of High Point has been named to the State Board of Education, Gov. Bev Perdue said Thursday.
Greene has spent her career in education, including working as a counselor at Ragsdale High School in Jamestown and serving as executive director of the Guilford Institute for Leadership Development.
She was vice chairwoman of the N.C. Standards Board for Public School Administrators and chairwoman of the N.C. Board for Licensed Professional Counselors. In 2008, Greene received the Distinguished Practitioner Award from the UNCG department of counseling and educational development.
Greene is filling a vacant seat on the board and does not need to be confirmed by the Legislature.
