A few weeks ago, my grandson and I ate lunch at the Four Winds restaurant on Liberty Road.
We were waiting in line to pay our check when a gentleman in front of us turned to me and said, “I’ll take that” and he took the check out of my hand. He said, “You look like a lady that would like her lunch paid for.”
I was so proud that my 13-year-old grandson was with me to experience this act of kindness.

Our family moved to Greensboro almost a year ago. Mary and Craig Trumbo and their children made this transition so much easier for us.
They volunteered to be a mentor family for new families at our church and school. They have gone above and beyond the required “being available to answer the many questions we have” as a new family. They have had us to their home for a cookout and invited us to the movies. Their family has embraced our family, and they have been overwhelmingly good to us.
Their actions are something most people would not risk with strangers. They have chosen to “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” A truly rare find.
