GREENSBORO – A Greensboro homeowner opened fire on a man who broke into his residence Thursday morning.

At 10:30 a.m., police officers received a call of a break-in in progress at 3984 Pelham Drive, said police Lt. Hope Newkirk.

The homeowner reported that a man kicked in his back door, and he shot at the burglar to protect his property.

The burglar ran and might have gotten into awaiting vehicle.

Newkirk said the homeowner was uninjured. It was unclear whether the burglar was hit during the break-in.

No charges will be filed against the homeowner, police said.

The burglar was possibly armed and was last seen running toward Old Treyebrooke Drive.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crime or who might have noticed someone suspicious in the area to call Crime Stoppers at 373-1000.

I don't know. There just seems to be a common theme in all these burglaries, robberies, carjackings, and murders. I just can't seem to put a finger on it.
