My Dearest Mama (Dorothy Calhoun Oldham),
You are so precious to me, and every person who has ever had the privilege of meeting you! Thank you so much for bringing me up in a Christian home, and trying your best to mold me into a good, selfless person. The way you have lived your life has been a wonderful example to my brother and me!
There are too many things about you to be written in a certain number of words, so I’ll just go as far as I can. You are as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside! I have always wanted to look like you. Your face is ageless ... you could pass for a woman at least 20 years younger.
You are so musically talented. When you play the organ, it sounds almost angelic. It is so smooth and comforting that it brings tears to my eyes. You never miss a note.
Mama, you could have been a designer. Your closet is full of the most elegant outfits because you just have that certain knack. Sometimes you match Daddy’s colors to go with yours, and what a picture you two make.
Your whole life changed 13 years ago, when Daddy had his second stroke. As a 24/7 caregiver, the love, tenderness, and patience you have with him lets me know even more how very lucky I am to be your daughter. And grateful.
I love you SO much!
