The organizers of an annual auto show will donate all proceeds from this year’s May 16 event to Loaves & Fishes Christian Food Ministry and other Alamance County charities.

For about six years, the Mustangs of Burlington group has organized an auto show for charity. But now the event has a new name — the William “Bill” Jones Memorial Car Show.

Jones, one of the organizers of the show, died this winter after a stroke.

Jones, 58, was a Mustang enthusiast who lived in Mebane and worked as an industrial engineer for textile companies.

“He was a good fellow and a family man,” said Kirby Page, his friend and a member of Mustangs of Burlington.

Jones’ red 1994 Mustang Cobra will be on display.

The show, which is open to all makes and models of cars, trucks and motorcycles, will take place at Burlington Square Mall.

Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon. Judging is from 12:30 to 2 p.m., and awards will be announced at 3 p.m.

The event will include a disc jockey, a 50/50 raffle and door prizes. Also, participants can purchase three runs on the Pro-Dyno Mobile Dyno for $50.

Registration is $15. Day-of registration is $20, but people who bring five or more cans of food for Loaves & Fishes will get $5 off.

To pre-register go to www.mustangsofburlington.com and click on “MOB Car Show” under the upcoming events tab. E-mail questions to Kirby Page at kirbypage@bellsouth.net.
