My name is Kayla. I am 13 years old. My mom is Kathy Connell. Her friends call her K.C.
My Grandma Betty is writing this letter for me. I cannot write, read, walk or talk. I was born with a physical impairment.
My mommy has to do everything for me. She feeds me, dresses me, changes my diapers, takes good care of me when I am sick and all the other things that mommies have to do.
I spend my time scooting around on the floor playing with my toys, the musical ones are my favorite — especially my piano. I love TV also.
My mommy takes me to all the places that all other kids get to go — the circus, the mall, the park, Disney on Ice, and many other places.
This past December she took me to a Christmas party at Victory Junction Gang. My grandma went with us. I hope to go there this summer for a week. It would give my mommy a week off, too. She has not had one since I was born.
I go to Gateway School, a wonderful school for kids like me. My mommy puts me in my wheelchair each morning and rolls me out to meet my bus. We do all kinds of exciting things at school. I have great teachers that take care of me during the day.
A sitter meets my bus in the afternoon and stays with me until my mommy gets home from work. She is a single mom and has to work.
I weigh almost 60 pounds and my mommy is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 110 pounds. I don’t know how long she will be able to pick me up.
I only say a few words, but the word I say clearly is “Mom.”
Happy Mothers Day to my mommy!
