GREENSBORO — Two schools locked their doors as a precautionary measure Wednesday afternoon as police looked nearby for a man with a weapon.

The incident began about 2:30 p.m. when Officer A.B. Edwards Jr., the school resource officer at Page High School, stopped a student on campus.

The officer searched the student and found what he believed was a firearm. The student ran, and the officer pursued him and called for help, Lt. J.P. Lowdermilk said.

Page High School on Alma Pinnix Drive and St. Pius X Catholic School on North Elm Street were put on lockdown. The lockdowns were lifted by 3:30 p.m.

A police dog tracked the suspect to an apartment complex near North Elm Street, where he was arrested.

Marcus Wardel Fox, 16, of 1807 Lord Foxley Drive was charged with resisting a public officer, second-degree trespassing and possession of marijuana.

The handgun was not recovered as of Wednesday evening, though police said a gun charge was pending.

Fox was booked into the Guilford County jail on a $200 bond. No injuries were reported.
