Restaurant on the move

If you have a craving for the Mediterranean Salad or maybe the Reference Burger or the Milano sandwich, time is running out ... at least for now.

Tuesday is the last day of business for Southern Lights Bistro and Bar (379-9414) at 105 Smyres Place in Greensboro.

After nearly 25 years of service, the lease will be up for the restaurant. Owner Peter Hamilton is stepping aside to let co-owner John Drees take over. Drees plans to move the restaurant to a new location. A site off Battleground Avenue is being considered, but details and an opening date are still in the works.

For now, the white board will continue to display the landmark restaurant's seafood selections, soups and other fare for lunch Monday through Friday and dinner daily.

Blues and BBQ

Get a taste of the Mississippi delta for lunch Saturday during a Blues and Que BBQ Cookout from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Earth Fare (2964 Battleground Ave., Greensboro; 369-0190).

The band Certified Organic will provide music for pulled pork and fixings. Cost is $6 per plate. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the United Arts Council.

Free lemonade

Stop in O'Charley's anytime today and get a free made-from-scratch Strawberry Lemonade.

The deal is good only for those who are dining in. Can't spare the time? Then stop in long enough to pick up a coupon for a free lemonade when dining in any other time through Friday.

You can find O'Charley's at 4505 Landover Road (852-5758) in Greensboro and 521 Huffman Mill Road (584-5652) in Burlington.

Wings contestants needed

Think you've got the stuff for a prize-winning hot wing sauce? Then start mixing.

The Arc of High Point invites restaurants to compete for bragging rights at its Wingfest June 20 at Piedmont Triad Farmers Market in Colfax.

Judging categories include Best Hot Wing Sauce, Best Sweet Wing Sauce, Exotic Wings, Best BBQ Wings and a People's Choice Award.

The event is a fundraiser for The Arc of High Point, which supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

For information, call 883-0650 or visit www.arc-of-hp.com.

Spring menu items added
