Wake Forest's football team will hold its annual spring scrimmage at noon Saturday at the Doc Martin Football Practice Complex at Wake Forest University. Admission is free.
Limited seating will available on temporary bleachers and there will be space available for chairs and blankets, but seating space is limited.
Parking will be available throughout the Wake Forest campus. Signs will be posted and Wake Forest parking attendants will be located throughout campus to direct fans. Access campus through the University Parkway entrance.
AUTO RACING
CHRISTOPHER WINS: Ted Christopher of Plainville, Conn., flew in to the South and took home the win Saturday in the 150-lap feature Nascar Whelen Southern Modified Tour at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro.
Randleman's Buddy Allred won the 50-lap late model super truck race. In the 15 Lap Mini Stock event, A.J. Sanders of Mocksville took home the win. Robbie Brewer of Winston Salem captured his first win of the season in the 30-lap sportsman event.
Late-model stock racing returns at 8 p.m. Saturday. The grandstand opens at 6 p.m.
WOMEN'S GOLF
PANTHERS IN TOURNEY: Battling intermittent rain and blustery winds, High Point University women's golf team carded an opening round 341 in the Big South Conference Women's Golf Championship in Ninety Six, S.C. The Panthers ended the first day in seventh-place over the par 72, 5,956-yard layout of the Patriot Club. Sophomore Danielle Soderberg was High Point's top performer, carding an 83 to sit in a tie for 16th.
The tournament's second round starts at 8 a.m. today.
