N.C. singer survives another round of “American Idol”

Anoop Desai, 22, was among the bottom vote-getters on “American Idol” Wednesday night, but he won’t be going home to Chapel Hill just yet.
Instead, the judges refused Wednesday night to rescue Scott MacIntrye despite his performance of Survivor’s “The Search is Over.”
The 23-year-old piano player from of Scottsdale, Ariz., received the fewest number of viewer votes this week.
Host Ryan Seacrest said only 30,000 viewer votes separated MacIntrye from Desai, who sang Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” this week.
