GREENSBORO — A man working at a south Greensboro jewelry store was shot during a robbery attempt Wednesday, but police said he is expected to survive.
A report of a shooting at 12:48 p.m. sent police officers to C & S Jewelers at 2804-R Randleman Road in the Randleman Road Plaza shopping center.
Kim San, 61, was in the store with his wife and daughter. Two men came in and tried to rob the business. There was a struggle and San was shot, said police Capt. Janice Rogers.
San was transported to Moses Cone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said in a news release. The store owner’s wife and daughter were not injured.
The suspects ran from the store in a western direction after the shooting.
Police did not have complete descriptions of the two suspects, but said they were dressed in dark colored clothing and were wearing ski masks.
Rogers said police are working the San family, all of whom work in the jewelry store, to conduct an inventory to determine what, if anything, was taken in the robbery attempt. The store is owned by San's wife and daughter, according to legal records.
Since the incident occurred in a busy shopping center, Rogers said, using a police dog to track the suspects would be difficult.
The store did have video cameras, and investigators are reviewing evidence taken from the scene, Rogers said.
