Alamance Community College will showcase dozens of interactive demonstrations and exhibits April 5 to celebrate the school’s 50th anniversary.

The free event, from 2 to 5 p.m. on the Carrington-Scott Campus, is open to the public. It will include games, music, health checks, entertainment and light refreshments.

“A half-million students have passed through our doors,” said ACC President Martin H. Nadelman.

“We are hosting this event as a way to say thanks, not only to our students and their families, but to the larger community as well. We have had a successful 50 years because of community support.”

The presentations and demonstrations from curriculum programs include horticulture, cosmetology, biotechnology, automotive, culinary, machining, nursing, and mechanical drafting.

Emergency and public safety vehicles and equipment will be open to tours. A Coast Guard boat will also be on display.

Continuing Education will offer demonstrations in photography, oil painting, watercolor, quilting, basket weaving and Middle Eastern dance.
