An Apex couple are the latest $1 million winners in the state's “$130 Million Blockbuster” instant scratch-off game.

The prize will be paid out to Robert and Jacqueline Assante as an annuity of $50,000 per year for 20 years, according to a North Carolina Education Lottery news release.

Robert Assante purchased the winning ticket last week at the Food Lion on North Main Street in Holly Springs. He was just killing time at the store while waiting to pick up his daughters when he decided to buy the ticket.

Assante scratched off the ticket while in the store. When it revealed the $1 million prize, he initially thought he wasn’t seeing the winning numbers correctly since he had been to the eye doctor earlier in the day.

The lottery also said Monday that the one ticket to match all five numbers drawn in the March 13 “Carolina Cash 5” drawing was sold in Randolph County.

The ticket worth $73,064 was sold at Groceries & Such on North Main Street in Randleman. It has yet to be claimed. The winning numbers were 16 - 19 - 23 - 28 - 32.
