Greensboro police say a body found in a wooded area near Westminster Gardens cemetery Saturday may be linked to a recent missing person's case.

In a press release, police said they would not identify the body until today .

However, the Rev. Michael Moulden, a spokesman for the family of missing Greensboro composer Russell Peck, was at the scene on Saturday.

"They're almost sure (of) who it is," Moulden, rector of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Greensboro, said. "The family, though shocked, is grateful to have found him."

Police received a call to the wooded area off Whitehurst Road at 11:41 a.m. Saturday. Watch Commander Lt. Craig McMinn said someone was walking in the area and found the body.

Police did not give the cause of death but said foul play is not suspected.

Peck, 64, was reported missing after he failed to return home from a walk on March 1.

Police and search teams combed Guilford Courthouse Military Park and Country Park for several days in search of Peck.

Peck's music has been performed by hundreds of orchestras nationally and internationally, including performances by the London and Montreal symphonies.

He is also known for his work with the Greensboro Youth Symphony.
