Academic

All-Arts, Sciences + Technology Camp. UNCG. Greensboro, 27402. This weeklong, residential summer camp is designed to give quality instruction in the arts and sciences. Campers get to experience life on a college campus - sleeping in dorm rooms and taking courses in actual college classrooms. Campers are divided into groups by grade for age-appropriate activities. This year the program offers a new film festival and drama courses for older campers. Fashion Boot Camp -- a series of Project Runway “like” clinics to prepare aspiring designers for college and their career. The camp is intended for rising high school and college students and career minded individuals who want to enter the fashion industry. Fashion Illustration, Draping, Computer Aided Design, and Portfolio development are a few of the topics to be covered in the five day intensive. Life skills such as yoga, sustainability, empowerment, focus, and goal setting will be woven throughout the five days. The week will culminate with a fashion show produced by the designers. They will model an outfit refashioned from a vintage garment they’ll shop for. Each will have their hair and make-up done professionally as part of the production. The participants will receive a bevy of supplies to include a sewing kit, a 9 x 12 professional Portfolio, photos of their camp work, sketch pad & pencils, t-shirt, spending allowance, as well as lunch on the terrace each day. The first Fashion Boot Camp will take place June 22-26, 2009, 9:30am–5pm Monday through Friday. The Fashion Show/Winners’ Reception will be 5pm till 7pm on Friday of the session.
