RALEIGH (AP) - The North Carolina Symphony is releasing its first commercial recording, which features performances with saxophonist and band leader Branford Marsalis.
The compact disc titled "American Spectrum" was being released Thursday at a news conference with Marsalis and the symphony's music director, Grant Llewellyn.
The CD includes John Williams' "Escapades," featuring Marsalis, and Ned Rorem's "Lions," featuring the Branford Marsalis quartet.
Marsalis joined the symphony's Board of Trustees in June 2007.
Classical music label BIS records based in Stockholm is releasing the CD internationally.
