18 sentenced in meth case

GREENSBORO — Eighteen people have been sentenced for their involvement with a Davidson County meth lab.

Benny Wayne Franklin, 31, of Denton, pleaded guilty May 16 to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine and possession of pseudoephedrine, a chemical commonly used to manufacture meth. U.S. Judge William L. Osteen Jr. gave him the stiffest sentence, 30 years.

Billy Ray Franklin, 33, of Denton, pleaded guilty to the same charges and was sentenced to 15 years, 8 months in state prison. Timothy Scott "Coolie" Wagner, 43, of Thomasville, received a prison term of 12 years, 7 months on the same conspiracy and possession charges.

The arrests and indictments followed a Dec. 2007 discovery of a small meth lab in a home at 3055 Flat Swamp Road in the Davidson County town of Denton. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Greensboro said the lab had been operating since early 2005.

Five others were sentenced after pleading guilty to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine and possession of pseudoephedrine:
* Tracy Glen Strickland, 39, of Denton; who was sentenced to 3 years in prison
* Ashley Nichole Morrow, 23, of Thomasville; 5.5 years
* Scotty Lynn Pullum, 25, of Thomasville; 6 years, 8 months
* Timothy Daniel Strickland, 31, of Denton; 2 years, 4 months
* Craig Leroy Robbins, 50, of Trinity; 3 years, 10 months

Nince people were sentenced after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess pseudoephedrine:
* Laura Lynn Blair, 39, of Thomasville; 4 years, 9 months
* Benjamin Ray Steffey, 27, of Asheville; 2 years, 4 months
* Javetta Morrow "Susie" Robinette, 43, of Thomasville; 2 years, 4 months
* Tamara Hobbs Strickland, 35, of Denton; 3 years probation
* Larry Craig Stillwell, 37; 2 years, 3 months
* Crystal Gayle Hodges, 25, of Thomasville; 2 years
* Tony Wayne Hughes, 24, of Lexington; 3 years, 2 months
* Christopher Lee Woodlief, 23, of Denton; 3.5 years
* Elizabeth Moore Franklin, 51, of Denton; 3 years, 10 months

Lisa Todd Kinley, 46, of Denton, was sentenced to 10 years on one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine:

Seven other people have pleaded guilty to various charges and face sentencing later this year.
