GREENSBORO - One suspect has been arrested while another remains at large in the severe beating and robbery of an elderly man Monday morning.

Terrance Eugene Peak, 23, of 1373 Lee's Chapel Road has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and common law robbery, said Detective A.D. Phillips of the Guilford County Sheriff's Office.

Phillips said Peak is one of two men accused in the Monday morning attack of 77-year-old Tommy Lee Rayle of Friendship Road.

Rayle was parked in his pick up truck outside a home at 5552 Hicone Road around 11:30 a.m. Monday, when two men approached the vehicle and attacked him, stealing his wallet.

Rayle suffered severe injuries to his eyes and was treated and released from the hospital, Phillips said. He may end up losing an eye because of the attack, the detective said.

On Tuesday, Peak was arrested at the intersection of Bennett Street and East Florida Street following a vehicle stop.

He is being held on a $15,000 bond at the Guilford County jail in Greensboro.

Authorities are still looking for Quinton Bell Jr., 23, of 1335 Lee's Chapel Road, who is believed to be Peak's accomplice in the attack.

Bell is a black man, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He has a brown afro hair cut and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about Bell's whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 373-1000.

Callers remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward.

You can paint these types with the same brush - they are trouble in the elementary & middle school classroom, they drop out of high school, they last no more than one or two paychecks at whatever job, they are fed, housed, and clothed by Mama or Grandmama, they are known to the police, they live in the moment and have neither self-discipline nor self-reliance, they are easily influenced by others, as they get older they drive cars with shiny oversized rent-to-own chrome wheels and sound systems blaring hip-hop and they believe racism to be the cause of all their failings -
