GRAHAM (MCT) — Alamance County's next manager will be Laurinburg city manager Craig Honeycutt.
Honeycutt will be paid $112,000 a year plus $3,000 for a vehicle allowance and additional mileage money. He starts April 6. Alamance County commissioners announced the appointment Monday night.
Honeycutt, 43, is a native of Aberdeen. He has been the city manager of Laurinburg, a Scotland County town of about 14,500, since August 2005. Before that, he spent 12 years as town manager of Fletcher, a town of roughly 6,200 about 13 miles south of Asheville.
The other finalist for the job was interim county manager Tim Burgess, 45. He will return to the assistant county manager's post, a job he held from April 2007 until the end of 2008.
