GREENSBORO - A family of six was forced into staying with neighbors Tuesday night after a fire damaged their McConnell Road home.

At 7:45 p.m., fire crews responded to 2702 McConnell Road on a reported kitchen fire, said Battalion Chief Brandon Weaver.

Weaver said the family was cooking dinner when an electrical fire started behind their stove.

The blaze was extinguished within five minutes after crews arrived on the scene. No injuries were reported.

The fire left the home uninhabitable and the family of six, including at least one small child, was going to spend the night at a neighbor's home, Weaver said.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the family. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
