REIDSVILLE — Rockingham County authorities are searching for a man posing as a deputy who pulled over a woman's car.

The sheriff's office reported this incident that happened at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday:

An 18-year-old woman was driving a green Chevrolet Blazer on N.C. 150 near N.C. 87 when she passed a parked white newer-model car with the word "Sheriff" on it. The vehicle pulled behind her near the old Williamsburg school and flipped on its blue lights.

The woman stopped and pulled out her registration and driver's license. But the man who pulled her over said he stopped the woman because he thought she was pretty. The man got back in his car and drove off.

No one was injured. The sheriff's office did not identify the woman.

Authorities described the suspect as a stocky young white man who was unshaven and had a crew cut. He had large holes in both ears for earrings, and he wore black clothing.

Anyone with information about this incident can call Det. Ben Strader at 634-3238 or call Crime Stoppers at 349-9683.
