Three from Greensboro win United Way awards

Three Greater Greensboro winners claimed awards for "outstanding commitment and support to communities" from the United Way of North Carolina for work with the local affiliate.
- Syngenta Crop Protection won the Employee Spirit Award category business campaign for companies with 1,000 employees.
- Guilford County Schools' High School Ahead Academy won the Employee Spirit Award, for educational institutions up to 50 employees.
- Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro won the Employee Spirit Award, for not-for-profit agencies with 201-500 employees.
Awards were presented Friday during the United Way of North Carolina's annual meeting in Pinehurst.
Organizations and companies were judged on several criteria, including leadership giving, volunteerism, employee participation and giving levels, incentive programs, and campaign ralles.
