GREENSBORO — A student at N.C. A&T was shot during a robbery in an east Greensboro home on Saturday afternoon.

The victim, Darius Bennett, 22, underwent surgery at Moses Cone Hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound, according to Greensboro police. He was hospitalized in fair condition Saturday afternoon.

According to police, someone reported a shooting at 626 Franklin Blvd. at 12:23 p.m.

Bennett was shot inside his house, police said, then ran to a neighbor's house to ask for help. Three men were seen going into the house before the shooting and leaving the house afterward.

No arrests have been made.

All of the residents of the home are students at N.C. A&T, said Brian Sutton, the injured man's housemate. Bennett's housemates were not at home when the robbery and shooting took place.

The shooting comes two weeks after an A&T student was killed outside his apartment at 805 Homeland Ave., an apartment complex that primarily houses A&T students living off-campus.

Dennis Hayle, 22, was walking on a breezeway between two apartments at Campus Courtyard about 3:35 a.m. on Jan. 25 when he was shot and killed.

Two other men were injured after someone standing in the parking lot shot into their vehicle at the same complex a week earlier.

Police ask anyone with information about the crimes to contact Crimestoppers at 373-1000.
