Style Cents: A year of sensible shopping

(Updated Thursday, April 2 - 4:37 pm)

Style Cents celebrates its first anniversary!

I would like to thank the News & Record for believing in my vision that one can merge great fashion with low cost while being mindful of one's carbon footprint.

Working on this column during the past year has led to some very serendipitous discoveries. Foremost, it made me aware of many local charity thrift stores that are doing great things for the people of our community. I would like to recognize them for their assistance and especially for the friendships that have developed and to share a little about what they do. Many Style Cents readers have sent positive comments and suggestions about the column and have made me aware of stores that I didn't even know existed. Please keep the information and ideas coming.

To mark the first anniversary, I have put together some of my favorite bargain items found this year, as well as a list of all of the stores that I have used. Thank you again for your continued support.
